Completed Revell 1/144 MiG-29 "Fulcrum" and MiG 1.44 MFi "Flatpack"
I'm going to call these two done. The MiG-29 you have seen before but it was a test model for the florywash. Still not too sure if I like that or not. The MiG 1.44 was a test bed for a few things, mostly the wash and the masking idea... think it works.
Let me know what you think, was kinda going for a "dirty" and "used" look as most Russian Jets are like that, but they look so cool for it.
Peace!

WiP - 3 : Academy 1/144 MiG-29
I just got bored of this one, so I have thrown a gloss coat on it and put the limited amount of decals on her. I'm going to use this one as a test bed for some new techniques. Once this one is done it is back onto the Fritzer, Hornet and MiG 1.44 :)
Not really much to look at, but she looks... alright..
Peace!

WiP - 2 : Academy 1/144 MiG-29
Well I haven't done much in the last couple of months... well thats not entirely correct. I have done a little bit of modelling just haven't posted it up on here... yeah I am a lazy git I know...
Anyhow, I done some work on this little plane as it has been bugging me for ages. I did want to get the airbrush, but the cold weather is stopping me doing that (my airbrush is in the shed, it's bloody cold in there!). Yesterday and Today it snowed and came out at 8" deep (roughly), so I just gave up a decided to brush paint it. I went for the colours of the MiG-29 SMT, I know the plane isn't the correct variant for it, but meh, I like the paintwork and this model is going to be a test model for new techniques anyhow. So on with the pictures...
Not too sure if the green works or not. I was going for a greenish-grey and that colour is "Sea-green grey" or something like that. However now that I look at it, it kinda works... what do you think?
I do like these Vallejo paints, they don't come out half bad when brush painted. Think I might add some drying retarder to them tho and it doesn't "self-level" too well on it's own. or maybe I should thin it a little??
I've seen a picture of this plane with just two fuel tanks, which I might copy, I got two tanks from the Frogfoot kit so I might steal them.
Hoping to get into the loft tomorrow so I can get all my decals and stuff out of there. :)
PEACE!

WiP - 1 : Academy 1/144 MiG-29
I have managed to get a little further with the Fulcrum, managed to get the primer coat on the first colour for the camo. Not much else, so here's the pictures.
The underside first up, now this grey is a very thing coat put on using the Airbrush that Nat bought me for my birthday (cleaning it is a bitch...) and I love how it's turned out to be pre-shaded sorta, gives it a dirty look. So I am gonna keep it like this. I need to mask up the plane for the other two colours, which will be a bastard but I will live I guess :P
That bloody nose looks horrible... shame really as the rest of the plane looks spot on... except for the engines of course.
Finally the other side, once again I will apologise for the lack of postage and content. I'm hoping to get back into my modelling now that winter is approaching fast. Still not too sure if I wanna put any weapons on this or not. I'll think about it.
Peace!

MiG 1.44 MFI and MiG-29 WiP
I was going to sort out the resin parts today, but I had a computer to fix (a complete motherboard change on a laptop). So I done that then saw these on the table I was working on and just started to work on them. I've started the MiG-29 too, my thinking is that I am going to do both the 1.44 and the 29 in the same camo scheme. I've seen lots of grey 1.44's so I thought I would do something I haven't seen it before, a kinda "whatif". The MiG-29 is just a quick kit to get done out of the way and keep some people off my back, they know who they are!!! :P Picture time...
Those attachment points for the canards are horrible. Will need to use a bit of filler on them. The instrument panel didn't get any decals as they where really bad, so I decided not to use them. I'm still impressed with the cockpit tho.
Front section, once the cockpit is done the rest is a doddle tbh.
Those nozzles look good on this model, a little worried about painting them, but I will figure something out. I was going to drop the flaps on this one, I couldn't figure out what are the flaps and what are not. I see something in the middle of the wing that looks like a flap and I see a little flap between the rudder and the nozzles, as of yet I haven't been able to find any pictures of them dropped, so I have left them up.
I've left the intake off so I can paint it the usual dark grey/white whatever. One thing that did cross my mind when I made this one, I didn't put any weight in the nose and I have a feeling it's going to be a tail sitter. Those intakes go back a little way so I am going to stick some weight there, will have to see what I have to use. I didn't have any problems with the joins in the wings, a little filler will be needed on the top, but nothing that a bit of Mr. Surfacer can't fix.
The Academy 1/144 MiG-29A Fulcrum, I thought this would be a good model as I have an 1/72 OV-10 Bronco in my stash and that's a great model with lots of detail and looks fairly accurate to me. Well as much as I can see as I've never flown/worked on/walked around one. First thing that you should be able to see from this picture is the nose! What's wrong with it? It reminds me of the Sukhoi Su-34 "FULLBACK" aka "Platypus" just worse, at least that plane looks cool!!! Now that I think about it, I might actually paint the MiG-29 as an Luftwaffe model, I should have some decals in the stash for that.
Next thing you notice is those jet nozzles, they do not fit at all! I though it was the way I had glued the fuselage together but no, they are perfectly correct (a result really!) If I had glued the nozzles flush with the top half, there would of been a massive gap of about 10mm or so between the nozzles and the back of the bottom fuselage. So I decided to do it like this. The only thing I can think of, is that Academy have gotten the MiG-29 mixed up with the F-15C as you could think it has a "lip" on it's nozzles. Thats the only thing that would make sense to me...
And the two birds together, the MiG-29 is almost the same size as the MiG 1.44 wing! That is one massive bird. You can see how big it is by the size chart on the mat, just times the size of that by 144 times and you *should* be close to it. Still both are fun models to make and I am looking forward to paiting them, now that I have a new tool to use on them :)
More to come...
PEACE!

Bombcat, Typhoon, Hornet, Harrier, Hawkeye WiP and New Purchases
Well it's been a while since I posted anything. But here is a few posts of what I have done the last two weeks. It's a struggle atm because I am fighting for control of the table with my family. Well I'll post some pictures up of what I have done thus far... well thats not correct. I am further along with some models than I am with others.
The AV-8II+ with it's 3 coats of grey. I think the grey thats on the side of the body was a little too dark. Oh well...
Top side of the Typhoon. Not too bad.
Bottom side of the Typhoon, with the harrier in the background.
Top half of the Harrier, you can see the 3 different greys but I still think the middle tone is too dark.
Top half of the Bombcat. Buggered this up totally. I think the top half is a little too dark.
Bottom of the Bombcat, the paint has leaked where I didn't mask it up correctly. Still learning with the airbrush... should that be "Canbrush"??....
Top half of the Hornet. I'm gonna strip this model and start again.
Read above.
Now the Hawkeye I am actually happy with. :)
Think the grey on this one is really good. However I later found a picture of the very model I am doing and it's supposed to be darker than this... bugger.
see where the radome housing is buggered?
Those rudders look very cool to me :)
The fuel tank for the F-18 and the two Storm Shadows for the Typhoon.
The fuel tank and the Storm Shadows.
And again? God knows why I have 3 pictures of the same thing.
Last but not least the GBU-10's and GBU-12's that I am gonna be using on the various kits. :)
Now on to the purchases.
Got this one when I ordered a few paints. It was only £2 and I love the MiG-29 for some reason.
Now this purchase was a complete mistake. I clicked on it by accident and forgot to take it off at the checkout. Oh well it is a model I wanted, just not now.
Smaller than I thought it would be.
Well thats it for now. More to come when I can be arsed.
Peace!

The List Part 1
Well I am have been meaning to do this for a long time, here will be a list of most of my projects going on right now. This list is not complete as there is some other stuff I got laying around that I couldn't be arsed to photograph yet, I may do later on tho. Right I will start with the aircraft first.
Here we have a Hawker Hurricane Mk. IIC with a conversion kit to turn it into an IID (from 3-D Kits) which was as far as I am aware the RAF's first dedicated Tank-buster. I also have another IIC thats half built but my dog had a chew of it and ate the left tailplane. I might be able to bodge something with the other parts and see if I can have an IIC and IID together. I'm sure I read that they worked together in the African desert. Still I love that plane. There is a P-51B Mustang, I can paint this in RAF or USAF colours. I'm thinking RAF, just because I am English. The Tornado ECR (electronic combat/reconnaissance) in Tigermeet scheme, I know the Germans are famous for their grand Tigermeet paint schemes (they are pretty epic) but I will not be using it. I'm however gonna try to cut out the markings from the stripes tho. Last there is the F-19, which doesn't exist, officially.
Next up we have this little lot. I'll start with the Hawk, this kit was actually sent to me by the RAF through the post because I was doing an MSc degree in Aerospace Engineering and thought I'd like to join. I did try later on, less said about that the better. Then there is the Ju-87 Stuka, this was always a weird and interesting plane to me. It had great success until it met with the Hurricane and Spitfires of the RAF over the skies of Southern England in the Battle of Britain. To say it was ripped a new one is an understatement. Also there is the A-10 Thunderbolt II/Warthog, a plane I have massive respect for. It was literally designed around the GAU-8 Avenger, a gun so powerful that it actually slows the plane down when its being fired!!
Got this one on sale from... ModelZone I think it was. I'm looking forward to building this one. I love the design of the Beaufighter for some reason. I remember reading that the Japanese where totally petrified of this little plane tho.
Another two models I got from ModelZone on sale. I'm not too sure on the MIG-29, not sure if I'll do it in "The Swifts" colours or military colours yet, altho I am reading online that the Swifts and the Russian Knights have disbanded. Shame I loved the Russian Knights' Su-27's. As for the Walrus, it's a weird little Fleet Air Arm plane that I like, I dont know why, but it has a weird charm to me. Then again I have always liked weird and wonderful things.
Thats it for the time being, next I will list the things I have started.
Peace!
