Completed Revell P-51B Mustang III x 2

Well here they both are, totally finished.  First ones of the year. :)

Despite the grey being too dark I dont think I have done too bad on these two. :)  Only really built them as a learning exercise.  Now to finish off the Fritzer, MiG 1.44, Hurricane IIc and F-19 Stealer oh and the CF-188A.

PEACE!

  1. Really nice pair you modelled especially if your used them to gain experiance but then modelling is a lifetime of learning.

Did you consider doing a panel wash, i find they really bring a model to life adding detailing. Check out promodellers wash maybe

Bubble canopy i really like, can't ever remember seeing that before.

  2. Thank you Ian, modelling does feel like I always need to learn something new or try out a new method. I was considering doing a panel wash, but try as I might I just can not get it right! I've used the Vallejo Wash and that just makes a big mess on the plane. When I try to wash off the excess the paint in the recesses comes off too... or I leave it on too long and none of it will come off, so I am going to try the Oil paint method on the MiG-29 when the varnish has fully cured.

The bubble canopy was actually a British idea, think it was inspired by the Spitfire actually. It gave the pilot a full 360 degree view where as the American version was really lacking in viewable areas (notably the rear). The canopy was the source for envy from the Americans and they would take a canopy from an out of action plane to put on theirs. It also was the inspiration for the bubble canopy on the P-51D and the P-47D's (some D models where Razorbacks). Once again the greatest American fighter ever made was made better by us British... go figure...
