Review - TomyTec/Hasegawa 1/144 F-15E Strike Eagle "Garuda One"

I said I would do this review for a friend but haven't gotten around to it until now. So here we go. :)

Like the F-15C of Solo Wing Pixy I am really hoping to get this one started soon.  They do look very cool sitting on my desk. :)  I will explain who/what everything is when I get around to the completed section.  What I will say however is I am a little disappointed that there is no option to have the 4 Maverick load out that you see on the box cover.  That is kinda cool, will have to raid an A-10 or F/A-18C kit.

Completed - TomyTec/Hasegawa 1/144 F-15C "Galm 1" aka "The Demon Lord"

I had this one sitting on the shelf for a while.  While this is not 100% completed (I need to sort that canopy out), it's at a stage where I am happy with it and it is sitting on my desk now as a desk model.  Pretty cool, that reminds me I need to dust it... anyhow, I used a little bit of superglue here and there mostly on the tanks and the body connection but the rest of the fit was spot on.  On to the pictures...

This aircraft is the one you start off with initially and it is the F-15C of "Galm 1", you play as the pilot of this aircraft known only as "Cipher" as you play through the game Galm Team (you and your wingman "Solo Wing Pixy") become known as the "The Mercenary Dream Team".  Also a little later on, after the fights at airspace B7R aka "The Round Table" you become known as the "Demon Lord" (partly due to Galm (Garmr) on your tail) and you are respected/loved/hated by fellow pilots.  I will get around to making Solo Wing Pixy at a later date really soon.  It's bugging me that I haven't finished him yet.

Random new purchases.

Well I thought that while i was putting some bits and bobs up here I will post some of the new things I have bought this year... onto the pictures in no particular order!

Got this becuase it was cheap (I think about £2) and it looks cool.  I think it is for the range of Armoured Core mecha you can get.  But I think a Gundam will look just as cool with it!

One of those things I saw and just thought "WTF?!" So I had to buy it, I think it was about £3 also so very cheap.  I have since built it.  I will post that one up at a later date.

  Just a picture because I could :P

And a little bit of the instructions for this bad boy, that stand comes with the model.  It has 4 shields in total iirc.  It will be fun building this one.

I already have the Zeta Version of the Mk II, so I got this one, which as far as I can tell is excatly the same.  Bar the head unit and the backpack/booster.  I got it cause it was cheap and I am going to use this one as a test bed for weathering.

Got this one cheap and also for the F-14 Tomcat II Group Build on BritModeller, it might be a while before I start it tho.

Been looking forward to this one for a long time.  I have looked inside the box and it looks great.  I will have to make this one in the summer when I have some free time.

Everyone's fav F-22 it seems, well I have seen the moulds for this and  I am a little disappointed.  I feel the Trumpeter version is better but I will post pictures up later and you can make your own decision.

   That is it for now!

TomyTec 1/144 F-15C Galm 1 WiP-1

I got bored one night waiting for the paint to dry on the Leopard, so I took this out and decided to build it.  It goes together quickly being a snap-fit, but it's a bugger to sort out when something goes wrong, got to sort out the fuselage half's on this one but she will not part.  Overall I am impressed with this one, I can not wait for the other two to turn up.  Oh yeah... I never said on here... about 30 minutes after I put Galm 1 and 2 on here, I checked HLJ and my Christmas wish was answered!!!  They are going to be releasing the F-22A of Mobius One (Ace Combat 4 : Shattered Skies) and the F-15E of Garuda 1 (Ace Comabt 6 : Fires of Liberation), looking forward to both of them! :D

I decided to put the fuel tanks on the wings as it just seemed to fit.  Not sure if I will put the pilot in or not yet.

Top shot for no other reason apart from I could and wanted to show you how good the warning bits are.

Closer shot of those decals, they are very cool.

And the engine nozzles, this is far better than the Revell version on the F-15E.  I might use these as a referance when I make the other F-15's I have in my collection. dunno yet...

  Thats it thus far...

  Peace!

Completed - F-15 S/MTD ACTIVE

Here she is finally in all of her glory, finally got around to making the decals on the tail and the "badges" just on the air intake.  Overall I am impressed with her, got another two to build tho, one from Ace Combat and the other a What-if.  The canopy is detachable btw. :)

You can tell here, and see how bad my painting actually is, but the home made decals!!! :D

And the proper bird, altho this is the later 3D nozzles so the markings are kinda different.  You get the idea tho.

I've ordered some Flory Wash to try on these planes.  Until it arrives I will leave her clean.

Let me know what you think.

WiP 4 - F-15 S/MTD ACTIVE

Spent the last two days with this one.  The decals where fun, I cut out the "No Step" ones from the tiger stripes in the original F-15E kit.  I also used the horizitonal stablisers decals from an Dragon kit and the "US AIR FORCE" decal is also from an Dragon kit.  All I have to do now is to print out the other decals and I am going to call her done, then onto the Sorcerer one. :)

Let me know what you think :)

WiP 3 - F-15 S/MTD ACTIVE

Done some work on this one also as I have finally given up on the nozzles.  I used Tamiya white primer for the base colour now that my local Hobbycraft stocks it. :)

I haven't glued the canards or the rudders, but this gives you an idea of what the plane is going to look like once I have sorted out all of the details.  The red paint has run a little and it blotchy in places, will need to fix that.

This was all masked up for painting, was a right pain in the backside I can tell you, worth it tho in the end I reckon.

From the front, I think she is starting to look really good and like the plane she is supposed to. :)

Any comments welcome as always.

PEACE!
